Theft insurance claims are becoming more and more common.
Someone in your local area often commits theft and burglary. All it takes is about 15-30 minutes for the burglar to get in and take any cash, phones, electronics or jewellery that may be lying around.
Sometimes, if you have been out for an entire evening, bigger items may also be stolen and your home may even be vandalised in the process.
Having your home burgled or maliciously damaged can be a very distressing experience, not only because of the loss of your possessions and damage to your property but because of the feeling that someone you don’t know has been in your private home and has gone through your things. This can sometimes be harder to deal with than any damage or loss of possessions.
Fortunately, N.J. Carroll & Associates have been helping people with their theft and burglary house insurance claims for over 30 years and have a wealth of experience and knowledge in how to go about negotiating the best possible deal for you, the policyholder, with the insurance company.
The first port of call when you have been burgled is to call the guards and to not touch or dispose of anything as doing so may prejudice your position with the insurance company. You will also need a Garda Pulse Number or Crime Reference Number if you do intend to make a burglary, theft or malicious damage claim.
Making a list of what is missing or damaged is important when intending to make a claim for burglary or theft. Ideally, backing this list up with photographs and receipts will also be very helpful when submitting your claim. Down the line, you may also need to obtain repair or replacement estimates for some of the items damaged or stolen.
We understand the desire to get your home repaired as quickly as possible but it is always best to contact insurers first or else you may be paying for the repairs out of your own pocket.
N.J. Carroll & Associates Loss Assessors can offer you the professional advice that you need and ensure that you receive a fair and adequate settlement for your theft or burglary claim.
Please do not hesitate to contact us, and one of our experienced Loss Assessors and claims handlers will discuss any issues you have regarding your theft or burglary claim.
We take care of the entire process so you don’t have to.

Same-day site visit. Make-safe and emergency repairs arranged. Claim opened before the insurer's adjuster lands.
Every conversation logged. Every offer presented to you in writing. You make every decision; we do the negotiation.
Detailed schedule, evidenced and presented. We push until the insurer pays the full entitlement, not the easy figure.
Most home and commercial policies include cover heads policyholders never claim, simply because nobody told them. We read the policy line by line so nothing is left on the table.
Full structural repair to original specification, not depreciated "indemnity" value.
Furniture, appliances, soft furnishings, replaced new-for-old where the policy permits.
If your home is uninhabitable, the insurer pays for somewhere to stay until reinstatement is complete.
Surveyors, architects and structural engineers when remedial work needs their input.
Make-safe, emergency boarding-up and full clearance of damaged materials.
Water, gas and electricity charged through during the claim period.
Three decades of claims means we've handled every major Irish insurer's policy wording, claim process, and adjuster panel. We know what each insurer settles easily and where each one fights.

Read storyYes. Lack of serial numbers makes the claim harder but rarely fatal. We rebuild a contents inventory from photographs, receipts, bank statements, retailer records and household-insurance schedules. The insurer then has a documented basis to settle, even without a serial number for every item.
Some claims trigger a premium increase, some don't, and accidental-damage claims behave very differently from theft or subsidence claims. We'll advise on the wider implications BEFORE you decide to claim, not just push every loss through.
No. The loss adjuster works for the insurance company, their job is to validate the claim and contain its cost. Your loss assessor (us) works only for you, the policyholder. They are not the same role.
No win, no fee. Our fee is a percentage of the additional settlement we secure above the insurer's opening offer, agreed in writing up front. If we cannot improve on what the insurer would have paid you anyway, you owe nothing.
Yes. Our office is in Dublin 6W and we serve every Irish county. Same-day site visits are routine for emergencies; standard non-emergency visits within 48 hours.
Not at all. We can step in at any stage of a claim, even after an offer has been made, and frequently improve the settlement. Don't accept the offer until you've spoken to us, signing accepts the figure as final.
